| mom's orange rolls |

1-1/2 c hot water
1 c. milk (1/3 c powder milk added to flour + 1 c warm water)
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. yeast
5-1/2 oz butter (1 cube plus 2 tablespoons)
2 eggs
7 to 8 c flour (2 c. wheat flour optional) |
Mix milk and water together. Mix sugar, salt and yeast together then add to milk mixture.
Let yeast dissolve. Soften butter and add with eggs. Add flour, part at a time until
proper consistency. Knead 10 minutes; let rise; punch down and make into rolls.
Roll out rolls like cinnamon rolls and add orange filling.
Let rise and bake in greased pan 12-18 minutes at 400 degrees.
Makes 3 dozen.
Orange filling:
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter (mom's calls for 1/2 c.)
1 T. orange zest |
